Jane Mote

The Community Channel

Jane Mote
     

Jane Mote has been Controller at the Community Channel since 2003. She is responsible for the strategy and content development on the Channel.

Jane was previously Executive Editor, BBC London. She was responsible for all the BBC’s regional output in London including BBC London News, Inside Out; Metropol and BBC London 94.9 FM. She also managed a regional Ceefax, subtitling and online service as well as contributing to BBC Networks including News 24. Jane launched BBC London News, a dedicated TV news programme for the capital in October 2001. The BBC London tri-media service is Europe’s first dedicated city service across three media.

Jane had previously been Editor for BBC Wales Today and producer of television news at BBC Wales after working as a reporter/producer on the programme and BBC Radio Wales. She has worked for BBC network radio news and contributed features to Woman’s Hour. She started her journalistic career in newspapers. After graduating from Warwick University, Jane trained in Birmingham before working at two regional titles. She then went on to help launch the new Wales on Sunday newspaper in 1989 as an investigative reporter.

She was born in Canada and now lives in London.
