Roger
Bolton

Roger
Bolton is a radio and television presenter
and independent producer. He was Editor
of the BBC’s Panorama, Nationwide
and Tonight Programmes, and of Thames
Television’s This Week. He now
presents Feedback and the Sunday Programme
for BBC Radio 4.
Born
in Carlisle, Roger graduated from Liverpool
University in 1967 with an English Literature
and Philosophy degree. Roger joined
the BBC as a general trainee on religious
programmes. In 1983, he became Deputy
Head of Current Affairs and the Head
of Network Production Centre in Manchester.
He was responsible for over 1,000 staff
across network radio and television.
For Thames Television, Roger was editor
of the programme ‘This Week’
from 1986 for three years, and then
Controller of Factual Programmes. In
1992, he formed Roger Bolton Productions,
specialising in religion, current affairs
and history programmes. Roger presented
‘Right to Reply’ on Channel
4 for seven years, and Medium Wave on
Radio 4 from 1997 to 1998. In 1999,
Roger was given the Andrew Cross Award
2000, CBC Award, and Best Christian
Terrestrial Programme 1999. He also
formed Flame TV with Barbara Altounyan
in 1999. Among his publications is ‘Death
On The Rock And Other Stories’
(1990).
