Sandra Herbert
Radio Leicester

Sandra Herbert

Sandra Herbert is the religious producer for BBC Radio Leicester, a post she has held for 13 years. Her job involves producing and presenting religious programmes in Leicester, the most diverse of British cities, on a station that places great emphasis on religion. She also does some media training for the church and is involved with the Churches Media Council.

She has won many national awards for her work including Race in the Media, Sandford St Martin, Jerusalem and Andrew Cross. She has a particular interest in working with young people of faith and has twice produced the Best Young Religious Talent winner in the Andrew Cross Awards. Her radio features with Muslim Students have inspired Islamic Awareness events in Leicester and helped to build bridges and trust with the local community. She is currently working with a mixed faith group of young people on a BBC funded documentary on community cohesion.

Before moving to work in radio, Sandra Herbert was a geography teacher and then a full time mother. She lives on a South Leicestershire Farm.

She supports a livestock development charity in Africa.
